- U.S. Latino/a Cultural Heritage Colloquium

The Naperville Cultural Center is proud to present a series of speakers and workshops to celebrate the contributions of Latino/a cultures in the U.S. and Latin America. Facilitated by distinguished scholars, artists, and community activists, the colloquium will explore the roll that cultural identity plays in personal, professional, and community success. Workshops will be conducted in English.

Lecture topic "Education" with Leonard J. Dominguez, M.Ed.

How does the “Latino demographic” impact the future of education in Illinois? What is bilingual education, and why is it such a hotly debated topic? Find out about the most important issues that Latinos in education contend with and the innovative solutions that Leonard J. Dominguez has proposed in his 30 plus years in education management and policy development in the City of Chicago. This workshop is a MUST for anyone who is an educator, parent, or voter! We will have program for kids too! Price $12, for students $6

Lecture Topic "Entrepreneurship" with Irasema Gonzalez

Irasema Gonzalez, owner of Tianguis book and gift shop, will share her experience as a small business owner in Chicago’s famous Pilsen neighborhood near the Mexican Museum. She will address the importance of having vision, a business plan as well as a marketing plan, and the ways in which her Latino heritage has shaped her personal and professional development. lecture Topic "Activism" with Sarah Morkert-Munoz

Sarah Morkert-Munoz, a mother, teacher, and activist, will discuss her involvement with MayaWorks in Guatemala. MayaWorks helps to give women an opportunity to earn an income from their skills gives them self-confidence and hope for themselves, their children, their family and their village. Sarah Morkert-Munoz’ achievements remind us that we each can find ways to help transform our society and planet. There will also be Mayan handiwork for sale! Price $12, for students $6
